MAIN FESTIVAL—SATURDAY 15 MAY:

The Main Festival will commence at 3 pm and will be held at St Matthew’s Church, Ealing W5

St Matthew’s Church was consecrated 125 years ago.  It is a fine example of a late Victorian church, possessing exceptional stained-glass windows and woodcarvings and a three-manual pipe organ built in 1884 by Auguste Gern.

Participating choirs will each present a short programme of their choice (10 to 15 minutes) in a series of free public recitals:

Recital 1—3.00 pm till 4.30 pm

Recital 2—5.00 pm till 6.30 pm

Recital 3—7.30 pm till 9.00 pm

A grand piano will be available but participants are asked to bring their own accompanist.  Participants will also have the opportunity to display their own promotional literature and concert notices at the festival venue.

The day will conclude with a performance by all singers (who wish to be involved with this) of two festival choral pieces which will be available for download from this website nearer the time.

Choir participation and public admission to the London Sangerstevne festival are free.  There will be a retiring collection in aid of St Matthew’s Church Fabric Appeal.

Light refreshments will be offered at regular intervals throughout the day and everyone is welcome to stay for the whole event or just that part which interests them most.

FRIDAY AND SUNDAY CONCERTS:

As part of the weekend festivities, participating choirs are invited to take part in two additional concerts which will take place in London on the Friday evening and Sunday afternoon of the festival weekend.
