Executive Committee Management of the choir is in the hands of the Executive Committee, elected at the Annual General Meeting in Term 1 of each Choir Year. The positions held by the elected members for the year 2009-2010 are as follows:
Chairman—Vacant The Chairman has a strategic role in representing the vision and purpose of the choir. He/she ensures that the committee functions properly, that there is full participation at meetings and that all administrative and musical matters are progressed effectively. The Chairman ensures that society members are consulted on key matters and are happy with the running of the choir and rehearsals/concerts. The Chairman also ensures that the relationship with the musical director is maintained on a professional basis.
Choir Secretary—Barbara STRYJAK The role of the Secretary is to support the Chairman by ensuring the smooth functioning of the management committee. The Secretary is also responsible for the general administration of the Choir (e.g. booking concert venues, preparing and circulating the agenda and minutes of meetings, sending mailings to choir members).
Treasurer—Mark TOMPSETT The role of the Treasurer is to safeguard the financial viability of the organisation by ensuring that proper financial records and procedures are maintained in accordance with accounting policies and Charity Commission standards. He/she ensures the proper investment of the charity's funds. The Treasurer is also responsible for the day-to-day finances of the organisation (petty cash, settlement of expenses, gift aid forms, fees and invoices).
Membership Secretary—Germana KERR The Membership Secretary welcomes new choir members at the beginning of rehearsals and ensures that music deposits and membership fees are collected in accordance to the choir’s constitution. He/she also maintains the membership database and extracts information from the database on request in furtherance of the choir’s objects.
Section Representatives à SOPRANOS—Kate CATO à ALTOS—Penny BIRDSEYE à TENORS—Richard CROFTON à BASSES—Tony MILLIER The Section Representative is the spokesperson for the singers within the section he/she is responsible for. He/she also monitors the attendance of rehearsals and follows up absentees within the section.
The Musical Director also sits on the Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee reserves the right to co-opt any additional members, such as the Choir Librarian, Social Events Secretary and Publicity Officer.
Choir Librarian—Stephen FIDLER The Choir Librarian is responsible for looking after the choir music. He/she will prepare, hand out and collect music scores at the beginning and end of each term. He/she is also the custodian of the choir’s music scores.
Social Events Secretary—Gabby ROWBERRY The Social Events Secretary proposes and organises choir social events, from formal group events to pub quizzes, barn dances, dinners, etc.
Publicity Officer—Marie McLERNON The Publicity Officer coordinates the promotion and advertising of choir activities, both online and offline.
